Citrine Clear Wax or Opal Clear Wax?

These waxes are extremely similar and provide same benefits to your formulations, but they have different oil compatibility (Please keep this in mind when choosing to work with one or the other):

 The benefits of both Citrine and Opal Clear Wax are: 

• Create water-resistant polymer films which function to improve wear durability
• Form sticks (solid), gels, or emulsions
• SPF boosting with added protection and filtration of harmful UV radiation)   
• Enhance shiny finish in products such as lip gloss
• Improve pigment dispersion for high color pay out
• Provide emulsion stabilization which prevents “settling” and decreases “sweating”

Applications: Color cosmetics, Lip care, Sun care.

Citrine Clear Wax: 

Citrine Clear Wax can be used to emulsify mixtures containing natural oils because it has a high polarity range. Therefore, this wax can be used to help ensure successful emulsification of the natural oils and any water or water-based ingredient (prevents separation) in a cosmetic formulation. At the same time, the wax will create a protective barrier which prevents any water loss due to the external environment resulting in a sleek, “clump”-free texture. A little goes a long way, and waxes must be heated to their melting point (never beyond boiling).

Natural Oils (i.e. Castor oil, Avocado oil, Jojoba oil, Meadowfoam seed oil)

Opal Clear Wax:

Opal Clear Wax can be used to emulsify mixtures containing synthetic and/or mineral oils because it has a low polarity range. Therefore, this wax can be used to help ensure successful emulsification of the synthetic/mineral oils and any water or water-based ingredient (prevents separation) in a cosmetic formulation. At the same time, the wax will create a protective barrier which prevents any water loss due to the external environment resulting in a sleek, “clump”-free texture. A little goes a long way, and waxes must be heated to their melting point (never beyond boiling).

Synthetic/Mineral Oils  (i.e. Hydrogenated Polyisobutene, Dimethicone, Cyclopentasiloxane, Isododecane)
